I’m on a journey to strengthen my faith, actually understand what the Bible says, and hopefully help a few along the way.

Written by Paul to the Christian churches in Rome.

Date: A.D. 57

Theme: the gospel of Jesus and God’s righteousness through faith in Jesus.

Romans doesn’t encompass everything, it’s more so a summary of Paul’s theology on certain topics. It’s most likely that he wrote the letter to address certain concerns of the Roman church. Examples: what is to be learned from Abraham, the law in reference to sin, Old Testament food laws, etc.

Outline:

The Gospel as the Revelation of the Righteousness of God

God’s Righteousness in His Wrath against Sinners

The Saving Righteousness of God

Hope as a Result of Righteousness by Faith

God’s Righteousness to Israel and to the Gentiles

God’s Righteousness in Everyday Life

The Extension of God’s Righteousness through the Pauline Mission

Final Summary of the Gospel of the Righteousness of God
